BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Training for effective community leadership, including public relations and marketing, finance, fundraising, leadership, advocacy, community research and personal development.

  • Insight into community needs and strategies for solutions
  • Participation in community diversity
  • Access and opportunity to interface with community leaders
  • Exposure to creative techniques in problem solving and administration as it relates to nonprofit agencies
  • Access to new friends, new ideas and new opportunities for continued growth and fulfillment

A prospective member must be at least 21 years of age prior to December 31 in the year she applies, and must have been a Kern County resident for at least three months prior to application deadline.

 

A prospective member must be able to fulfill the following Junior League requirements:

  • Provisional training course
  • Attend general membership meetings on the second Tuesday of each month and one Board or Council meeting
  • Committee placement
  • Fundraising obligations of ticket sales and volunteer hours as per fundraising motions
  • Annual dues of $115
  • Provisional Fee: $25 payable with application prior to provisional year
  • Possess interest in voluntarism and commitment to community service
  • Interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation
