JUNIOR LEAGUE OF BAKERSFIELD PROJECTS
JLB actively seeks to impact the community
through direct service programs. Our current focus of child welfare
reflects our commitment to serving the needs of our community. JLB
projects focus on improving the lives of women and children in the
community by providing volunteers, training and funding to
non-profit organization in Kern County. The projects last for
approximately three years and applications are accepted in the fall
for consideration.WIN – Women’s
Incentive Network
JLB’s signature project is The Women’s
Incentive Network (WIN). WIN is a collaboration with the Alliance
Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault and other agencies that
support women in crisises. The WIN committee develops and implements
“life skill” courses for these women. The course material is highly
educational and presented in a format that is fun, engaging and
uplifting. Speakers for the programs are both volunteers from Junior
League and from the community.
Impact Bakersfield
In addtion to the larger JLB Projects, all
active JLB members volunteer their time and resources in support of
various short-term charitable endeavors in Bakersfield. We call
these smaller projects, “Done-in-a-Day” projects. |
